Relocating to Dubai: the visa & Emirates ID timeline

What actually happens between landing at DXB and holding your Emirates ID, and how to keep an assignee productive while it runs.

Relocating to Dubai: the visa & Emirates ID timeline

A UAE work assignment follows a predictable sequence: entry permit, medical and biometrics, then the residence visa stamped to the Emirates ID. End to end it typically runs two to four weeks, and most of it can start before the assignee even boards.

The fastest moves overlap workstreams. While the entry permit is processed, we shortlist housing and confirm school places; once biometrics are done, tenancy and DEWA setup run in parallel with ID issuance. Sequencing, not luck, is what compresses the timeline.

Plan for the small things that stall people: an attested degree certificate for certain roles, a local bank account that needs the ID to open, and a tenancy that needs Ejari before utilities connect. Handled in the right order, none of them becomes a blocker.
